Prayer time

Few days back, mum asked my niece to say her prayer before going to sleep. She said her prayers and asked me to do the same. Told her i don't pray. I knew she would start her questions right away. I could not answer most of them 'cos i had none. Have never really thought about why i don't pray.

I came with few stupid reasons after sometime but she didn't care about my unconvincing reasons to not pray. She made me say her prayer. Asked me to close my eyes and say "Dear God, You have given me all that i need, thank you. I have made mistakes, please forgive me for that."

After i said those two lines, she asked me if its that hard for me to say those lines everyday. She's right i guess. I can manage to say those lines.

  1. Hi Kavya,

Well, all I can say is that prayer, religion and belief in God is entirely upto an individual's will. It is not necessary that you become a pious person neither is it advisable to become an atheist. Try them out, if you want to. But then you would need to achieve a middle ground between these 2 schools of thought.
    That's a better way of living. :)

    Regards

  2. Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent. Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent. Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil? Is he neither able nor willing? Then why call him God? -- Epicurus

    1. I really can't comment on that. I'm not capable of. Didn't even know what "Malevolent" was. Had to check in Google..:-)

Thanks for quoting Epicurus 'cos now I'm reading about him.He taught that pleasure and pain are the measures of what is good and evil. I like that.

      Thanks for reading..!!!

    2. @Jahid: God is both able and willing bro.. If he wants he can stop all evil at once in the very next moment. But then, the cycle of action what we call 'karma' would have stopped forever, for we would have become lazy gooses enjoying everything for free and mankind would have died of inaction within a few days.
If we all could have thanked God everyday for whatever we have like this little girl and just went abt our life with peace and love for fellow beings, then there would have been no evil on earth ever..
